March 31st 4:00 pm NIH F32 Postdoc Awards Have questions about the F32 application and review process? A panel of postdoctoral F32 Fellows: Wenndy Hernandez, PhD, Department of Genetic Medicine; Brian Metzger, PhD, Department of Ecology & Evolution; and Matt Wohlever, PhD, Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology will answer questions and give their perspectives on the process.

Tuesday April 11 4:00 pm "Applying to Permanent Residency and Changing Visa Status" UChicago GRAD HQ  Once a year, Brendan Delaney, JD visits the Chicagoland universities to discuss immigration issues specifically for postdocs. Brendan is a partner at Leavy, Frank and Delaney in DC and a member of the National Postdoctoral Association's Advisory Council. He will deliver a presentation on immigration policy and pathways, recent Executive Orders that affect postdoc immigration status, followed by a Q&A. Co-hosted by the BSD PDA and UChicago GRAD. April 14th 3:30 pm "Sharing Your Science Smartly: The Art of Giving a Presentation"  A repeat of last year's highly popular science communication seminar. Kathy Goss, PhD, Director of Strategic Partnerships at the UCCCC will give practical advice on presenting research to experts and public audiences.

Join us on Tuesday April 18th anytime from 10 am - 3 pm to make a sign for the March for Science - Chicago (location TBD). Open to all university members!

April 21st **1-2pm How to Have Effective In-District Meetings with Congress A livesteam training from the Union of Concerned Scientists hosted by the PDA Science Policy Committee.

April 25th 10 am GCIS W301 'From academia to the White House and back, experiences in science policy' We are very honored to welcome Jo Handelsman, PhD Director of Wisconsin Institute for Discovery and former Associate Director for the White House Office of Science, Technology, and Policy during the Obama Administration to discuss her career and current issues in science policy.

April 28th 10:30 am Teaching & Research at Western Illinois University Erica McJimpsey, PhD Assistant Professor at WIU will talk about her research and balancing teaching at a regional university.

April 28th 4:00 pm Careers in Project Management  A joint event with myCHOICE.

May 5th 3:00 pm "From the Lab to the Real World: On-Campus Programs to Build Skills in Business and Entrepreneurship"  A panel including Jason Parisio, Director of Innovation Fund; John Colson, Former Innovation Associate; Margaret Fleetwood, Project Manager of Tech Commercialization and Licensing at the Polsky Center; Andrew Kirkley, Former UChicago Tech Fellow will discuss their experiences and opportunities at the university for postdocs.

May 12th 4:00 pm "Scientists Helping Scientists: Field Application Scientist Careers"  Panelists Michele Laussen, Perkin-Elmer; Jeff Keil, StemCellTechnologies; Bret Samelson, Essen BioScience; and Jeff Knight, Qiagen will discuss their varied roles and career paths as field application scientists.

June 2nd 4:00 pm Postdoc Ethics - The Ethics of Authorship Co-facilitated by Nancy Schwartz, PhD Dean of Postdoctoral Affairs and Professor of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Pediatrics and Xiaoxi Zhuang, PhD Professor of Neurobiology and Training Grant Co-Director. Postdocs attending this seminar will discuss: when should authorship be decided? what is the criteria for deciding authorship? and how does authorship relate to postdoc independence?
