January 11th 12:00-1 pm – Informational Lunch About Careers in Science Entrepreneurship
Join BSD Postdoc Alum Judy Prasad on Friday, January 11th from 12:00-1:00 pm. Dr. Prasad is currently a Technology Venture Fellow at the UChicago Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. January 18th 3:30-4:30 pm Stress Management and Mental Health Resources
Location: UChicagoGRAD Suite, 340 – 3rd Floor of the UChicago Bookstore Building
Briana Konnick, PhD, Associate Director, Graduate Career Development, will give practical tips and advice on managing the stress that comes with being a postdoc in academia, and will break down what the mental health resources are on campus and how best to utilize them.

Interested in honing your leadership skills and learning how to more effectively provide constructive feedback?  Valerie Miller, PhD, Assistant Director of Postdoctoral Affairs, and Gerard Mikols, MBA, Associate Dean for Medical Education, will lead this interactive workshop.

February 1st 3:30-5:00 pm – Ethics Seminar for Postdocs
Join Ram Sabaratnam, Graduate Intern in BSD Diversity & Inclusion, for a discussion on microagression, prejudice and bias in academia.
This is a quarterly ethics seminar that fulfills the NIH RCR requirement.

February 8th 1:00-2:00 pm – Managing Impostor Syndrome
Better understand what impostor syndrome is and how to overcome it. Adia Gooden, PhD, Clinical Psychologist, Coordinator of Multicultural Outreach & Services.

February 15th 4:00-5:00 pm – Grants for International Postdocs
Join Karen Rosenthall, PhD, Director of Fellowships at UChicagoGRAD, to learn about fellowship opportunities that are available for postdocs, who are either U.S. citizens or international scholars.

February 20th 12:30-1:30 pm Tax Seminar for Postdocs
Location: Kersten Physics Teaching Center 106
Do you have questions about how to report your taxes? Angie Gleghorn, Manager of Financial Services and Jennifer Waters, the Director of Financial Operations in Campus and Student Life, will provide a helpful presentation on taxes as they pertain to stipends and financial aid for post-doctoral scholars and fellows. While individual tax advice is not available, this workshop will give you the basics of how to get started on filing your taxes. Please register in GRAD Gargoyle (Events > GRAD Events).
