Congratulations to BSD Postdoc Dr. Yara Haridy, who was awarded a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award by the BSD on December 4, 2023 at the BSD Trainee Diversity Awards Ceremony hosted by the BSD Office of Diversity and Inclusion.  Trainees were selected from amongst many outstanding nominees by the members of the BSD Diversity Committee. Each nominee demonstrated an outstanding record of commitment to DEI at UChicago, within the BSD, and in the South Side community or beyond.  Dr. Yara Haridy is a vertebrate paleontologist and evolutionary biologist in the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy, training under the mentorship of Dr. Neil Shubin.  Yara serves as the BSD Postdoc Association’s DEI Chair and sits on the BSD’s faculty search committee as the postdoc representative, where she aims to help the BSD increase faculty diversity.  Through her research connections, she also works to decolonize paleontology in the Middle East.  For more information on Dr. Haridy’s contributions as well as summaries of the graduate student awardees, please see this article.  Congratulations on your award and accomplishments, Yara!
